Chris Klein and Joy Fawcett, Co-Chairs for Pure Game's First Annual Footy-Golf Classic Fundraiser

Online, February 5, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Pure Game, a local nonprofit that has served over 8,000 underprivileged children over the past 5 years, will host its first annual fundraiser, the FOOTY-GOLF Classic on March 9th, 2014 from 12:30PM to 6:30PM at the Costa Mesa Country Club located at 1701 Golf Course Drive, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.

The FOOTY-GOLF Classic will be Co-Chaired by Chris Klein, President of the LA Galaxy and Joy Fawcett, former US National Team Player. These two soccer celebrities believe in Pure Game's character-building soccer programs and have signed up to help promote the event which will raise funds for the local nonprofit.

Adding to the fundraiser's excitement, this is the first tournament of its kind in Southern California, combining the techniques of soccer and the disciplines of golf into one high-energy game of play. Instead of clubs, players use their legs to drive and putt down the course. The game is a new craze in other parts of the world, and Pure Game is thrilled to introduce Footy-Golf locally for the first time.

All proceeds from the FOOTY-GOLF Classic benefit underprivileged children participating in Pure Game's programs. Nearly 20% of Orange County's three million residents live at or below poverty level. The children living in poverty often have insufficient supervision because their parent(s) is busy working to support the family. The lack of supervision leads to higher delinquency rates and makes youth and children more likely to drop out of school, get involved in violent activity, become teen parents and repeat the cycle of poverty that they have grown up in. These children need and desire a place to belong, a place where they are encouraged and made to feel welcomed. Pure Game provides this place for many underprivileged children in Orange County and provides positive mentors who champion the development of a child's self-esteem and confidence.
