Chile To Host 2nd Edition Of The LatAm Mine Water Conference Under The Patronage Of Sernageomin

After a successful inaugural conference in Brazil, the 2013 edition of the LatAm Mine Water Conference will be held in Santiago this August under the theme "Innovative strategies for sustainable water management."

Reports state that the Chilean copper industry consumes more water than most others, from one of the driest places on earth. In 2009, Chilean copper consumed approximately 1,028,160,000 litres of water in a day; a figure that is expected to double by 2020. Industrial water usage of this extent poses a serious threat to the long term sustainability of the region, especially in face of the global water crisis. Challenges related to mine water usage persist not only in Chile, but other Latin American countries as well. This has led to the search for alternative sources of water, and innovative technologies for water treatment, reuse and recovery.

Fleming Gulf Conferences announces its 2nd Annual LatAm Mine Water Conference, to be held on 28-29 August 2013. in Santiago - Chile, under the esteemed patronage of SERNAGEOMIN - Government of Chile.
