Chaske Spencer, star of Twilight Saga's New Moon and Eclipse will host the "Be the Shift" charity event and book launch of "THE PROMISE EFFECT: HOW TO CREATE A LIFE THAT WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN ANYWAY" on November 8th, 2010.

New York City, NY- On Monday, November 8th, actor Chaske Spencer, star of The Twilight Saga film series: New Moon and Eclipse is set to host "The Promise Effect" book launch event, with all proceeds to benefit non-profit organizations, Be the Shift and The PRASAD Project. Be the Shift is dedicated to empowering celebrities to use their influence to make a lasting difference in their own communities, which then creates shifts that they want to see in issues that matter to them personally. The PRASAD Project, operates health, education and sustainable development programs in India, dental care in the United States and eye camps in Mexico.

This "Be the Shift" book launch event, hosted by Spencer, in addition to launching the book "THE PROMISE EFFECT: How to Create a Life That Wasn't Going to Happen Anyway," written by Susan Elfer Woldman and Josselyne Herman-Saccio (Chaske Spencer's talent manager and business partner) will help raise awareness for the movement and enable people to create new futures through their own community projects. Chaske's personal "Be the Shift" project is designed to generate support for the snowstorm disaster victims from South Dakota's Lakota Sioux tribe. Spencer, who is a Native American from the Lakota Sioux tribe in Idaho and Montana, was compelled to help after hearing of the disaster. In less than a day, Spencer produced a PSA through his production company Urban Dream Productions, enlisting the assistance of his celebrity friends to raise awareness and support to those who have been without power and water for weeks. The PSA urged individuals to "shift the power to the people" and help to empower everyone to create sustainable, lasting change in their communities and countries.

This event will give attendees the chance to voice the shifts they would like to see in their own communities and will help raise money for the BE THE SHIFT movement and The PRASAD Project, whose offices are located in upstate New York.

In addition, Mozes entertainment, whose tag line is "TURN PASSION INTO ENGAGEMENT," has partnered to launch a mobile campaign simultaneously. Utilizing cutting edge technology, people can text BETHESHIFT to 66937 in order to sign the mobile petition and join the BE THE SHIFT movement.

ABOUT PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program

Few realize that dental disease is the number one chronic disease of childhood, and the principal cause of school absenteeism in the USA, with 51 million classroom hours lost annually. PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program is located in upstate New York, where rural poverty persists just 90 miles north of New York City. The few dental providers who accept Medicaid, coupled with a lack of public transportation creates a barrier between access to dental care and the children who need it. PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program's mission is to provide comprehensive dental care and education to children from low-income families. At the heart of the program is a mobile dental clinic, which allows us to bring dental services to children at their schools. This mobile clinic removes obstacles for parents who have no transportation or who cannot afford to miss work to take children to the dentist. Without PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program, many children would go without dental care. PRASAD Children's Dental Health Program in rural Sullivan County, NY, is a nonprofit organization providing comprehensive dental treatment and dental health education to underserved children with its mobile dental clinic. Established in collaboration with schools, local government and public and private agencies, it has served more than 60,000 children since 1996.
