We Animate Character Education, A New York based company that develops education resources, has announced an innovative puzzle product line to give teachers resources for conflict resolution and bullying prevention.

Mount Vernon, New York (I-Newswire) April 20, 2011 - We Animate Character Education, A New York based company that develops education resources, has announced an innovative puzzle product line to give teachers resources for conflict resolution and bullying prevention in classrooms and on the playground. Parents can also use the puzzles for character building or as a home school resource.

The new product line, called Emotional ID Puzzles, presents an interactive way for kids to identify good character traits, explore their feelings in constructive ways and develop conflict resolution strategies.

“Along with guiding children in their school curriculum, teachers’ roles today include behavior mentoring and character building as well,” said Gregory Berrie, founder of We Animate Character Education. “Parents are busy with work and other commitments outside of the home, which often limits their time and ability to encourage good character traits and provide their children with a moral education. The roles have shifted.”

Emotional ID Puzzles provide an educational resource for teachers, who may or may not have skills and training in helping kids to manage feelings and conflicts.

“Conflict resolution and bullying prevention are topics that continually arise during school hours today,” Mr. Berrie said. “While these are not new concepts, they are more prevalent and challenging than ever. And those challenges impact teachers’ ability to create a positive and effective learning environment. These resources help teachers to redirect kids toward more positive choices.”

Topics explored in the puzzles include social concepts like friendship, teamwork, and peer pressure, as well as emotion-based topics such as frustration, sadness and anger. Teachers and parents can design their own lesson plans to utilize the puzzles for educational games, or they can make use of the lesson plans provided by We Animate Character Education.

“The Emotional ID Puzzles were developed by teachers with extensive experience in dealing with the inter-personal challenges that are presented at school,” Mr. Berrie said. “These are strong ideas, simply presented. But they are also very effective at providing practical solutions to common social and emotional issues that affect classroom culture.”

In addition to printed acrylic puzzles that kids can work on individually or in groups, the product line has recently expanded to include online virtual therapeutic jigsaw puzzles, which are available at www.EmotionalIDPuzzles.com.
