Celebrate Halloween EEK-onomically By Swapping Costumes

Bloomington, MN – On October 8, 2011, Totally Kids fun furniture & toys will be hosting a Halloween Costume Exchange from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at their retail location in Bloomington, Minnesota. Totally Kids is now accepting donations of gently-used children’s Halloween costumes. Each donation received can be traded for a new-to-you costume. Exchanging costumes is a creative and eco-friendly way to get kids excited about recycling.

The Totally Kids Hallo-Green Costume Exchange will take place on National Costume Swap Day, which is part of Green Halloween®, an initiative to create more Earth-friendly holidays. "At Green Halloween®, we're all about helping families, especially kids, enjoy a healthy, fun-filled Halloween and at the same time, lessen the impact of the celebration on the planet. Swapping costumes is a great way to kick off an EEK-O friendly Halloween." Corey Colwell-Lipson, founder, Green Halloween.

The Totally Kids Hallo-Green Costume Exchange will also feature eco-friendly treats, fun games, and unique prizes. Families are encouraged to bring in multiple costumes for the exchange. Any left over costumes will be donated to St. Joseph’s Home for Children, a charity that provides basic needs and emergency shelter needs for children in the Minneapolis and metro area. Totally Kids and St. Joseph’s have successfully partnered in the past. Last year, Totally Kids was able to donate a carload of Halloween costumes to children. The goal for this year is to at least double that amount. What a great way to share the Halloween spirit with children who would otherwise not receive this opportunity.
