Ontario (I-Newswire) December 16, 2011 - Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County (CFSSC) recently launched ‘Oasis’ an immigrant women’s group offering support and education. CFSSC would like to invite immigrant women living in the community, who feel isolated, to come and join ‘Oasis’.
Immigration is a struggle for anyone especially women embracing a foreign culture alone. ‘Oasis’ is a supportive space where participants can come and meet other immigrant woman and build a network of support. The women are invited to explore and celebrate their cultural differences in a safe environment.
‘Oasis’ is led by a group facilitator and activities include group discussions, guest speakers, videos and much more. The guest speakers each share a similar experience to the group participants and offer valuable insight into how to build a solid foundation in Canada and where to turn for help.
‘Oasis’ is held on the second Thursday of every month from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Catholic Family Services Simcoe County head office. The head office is located at 20 Bell Farm Road, Unit 5 Barrie. CFSSC asks that participants pay what they can afford. All donations are used to support the organization in operating groups such as ‘Oasis’.
According to Heather Bebb, Executive Director of CFSSC, “We are pleased to provide this service to immigrant women struggling in Simcoe County and hope that it will work to strengthen our community. Canada is comprised of such a diverse and unique culture. ‘Oasis’ is offered to immigrant women in our community in a spirit of welcoming and supporting diversity.”
Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County is a Catholic sponsored non-profit charitable organization. In the spirit of hope and compassion, CFSSC together with community partners is committed to providing professional counselling, education and advocacy to heal and strengthen family and individual life.
