Catherine Pain, British (b. 1963) Exhibition Of Paintings In Cambridgeshire, UK

With the identification of a lost Rembrandt this week said to be valued at perhaps £20 million it's time to grab your own masterpiece and possibly secure the investment of a lifetime.

Graveley, Cambridgeshire (I-Newswire) March 22, 2013 - On Monday The Guardian reported that a painting of a gentleman wearing a peculiar hat left to the National Trust has finally been identified as a long-lost Rembrandt. Originally thought to be a copy of a Rembrandt and so considered to be of relatively low value in the past, the work is now said to be worth perhaps £20m.

Real art always increases in value. Nowadays more people appreciate this and are turning to paintings as an investment. This Easter a British artist, Catherine Pain, is showing a recent collection of her works and is going to be available to meet visitors.

Catherine has painted all her life and her work is in various private collections around the country. She is an illustrator for The Open University Platform Online community and designs and produces educational teaching posters for children which are sold all over the UK in local bookshops. 'I really love what I call 'real' art,' states Catherine. 'I like a duck to look like a duck and I like realistic and recognisable forms and good design that rings true to the eye. A picture should give something back to you and tell you your story. If you see a painting that speaks to you about you then if you can, make it your own.'

Catherine has been lucky enough to have the enormous help and encouragement of Gary and Rachel who's home is the local pub, The Three Horseshoes in Graveley, Cambridgeshire, where the exhibition will be hosted. Gary and Rachel are very active in the community and keen to support local groups, artists and musicians. They are even restoring a sense of the real spirit of old pubs by keeping a selection of board games behind the bar. Catherine's paintings for this exhibition will all be pocket-sized and so perfect for even the cosiest of cottages. There will be a series of local scenes, some British wildlife as well as domestic farm animals, hens and so forth. The pub is a great venue for the show because it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you can enjoy home-cooked food, a pint, or even just a cup of tea whilst you view the paintings.

Catherine is profoundly indebted to Gary and Rachel for their support for this exhibition and also all the wonderful local shops and galleries that stock her posters and original paintings including The Cambridge Book and Print Gallery, The Brampton Framing and Picture Gallery and The Angel Bookshop in Cambridge. She is also donating 10% of the sale price to the world-renowned local hospital, Papworth Hospital.

The exhibition is being held at The Three Horseshoes, 23 High Street, Graveley, St Neots, Cambridgeshire, PE19 6PL and runs from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Easter Saturday and all are welcome.
