Candy Containers And Western Toys Are Not Just For Children Anymore At Gateway Gallery Auction

Rare Kaleidoscope Candy Container and Western Toy Collectibles top off a superb holiday auction.

Gateway Gallery Auction's annual Columbus Day Sale on October 8th, 2012 features period furniture, firearms, glassware, ceramics, local pharmaceutical items from Wogan's pharmacy and stand out cataloged items. Gateway's Columbus Day auction is a must see for buyers and collectors alike.

"This a really well rounded sale", Heather Kohler Fowler, auctioneer at Gateway Gallery said, "Holiday sales typically draw the biggest crowds and I expect this will be no exception".

The highlight in Gateway's Columbus Day auction is a Turney G. Stough Moving Pictures Candy Kaleidoscope Container with a complete red label and intact glass cylinder. A similar one sold in 2003 at James D. Julia Auctions for an impressive $22,425.

"An identical item appears in Collector's Guide to Candy Containers by Dezso, Poirier, and Poirier. It had been in one collection for many years, and was said to be the only one, but rumors surfaced before the sale that there may be another hiding somewhere." Mark Sisco wrote in the June 2003 issue of Maine Antique Digest.

In addition to the candy container the October 8th Auction contains a collection of vintage western toys and cap guns. These items have been put on to Proxibid and are available for online bidding so all interested parties will have a chance to bid on these extraordinary collectibles.

Gateway's Columbus Day auction also features period and modern furniture, firearms, vintage collectibles, decorator items, art and more. Doors open at 10:00 AM. For more information including full catalog listing and photos visit www.GatewayAuction.com or call (717)236-6512.
