The St Charles Arts Council, CUSD303, the St. Charles Public Library, and St. Charles Park District, are organizing a "Pop-Up" Arts Center running from September 22 to October 27, 2012.
St. Charles, Illinois (I-Newswire) June 16, 2012 - The St Charles Arts Council, in partnership with CUSD303, the St. Charles Public Library, and St. Charles Park District, is organizing a "Pop-Up" Arts Center - Charlie's Center for the Arts in the Charlestowne Mall.
The event will run from Saturday, September 22 to Sunday, October 27, 2012. It will encompass multiple storefronts that will be temporarily converted into visual art galleries and studios, jazz cafes, music venues, theaters (live and film), etc. and as much Arts Programming as we can pack into 5 weeks.
Anyone interested in participating in this Pop-Up Arts Center - as an Artist, Sponsor, Volunteer, etc. - in an SCAC sponsored venue or in their own temporary storefront - should contact the St Charles Arts Council at 630.443.3794 or at StCharlesArtsCouncil@gmail.com
The St. Charles Arts Council is a 501(c)(3), registered not-for-profit Illinois corporation whose mission is to create an organization that serves and promotes the arts and cultural activities in St. Charles, to the mutual benefit of the arts and the community. The SCAC is staffed entirely by volunteers.
Some of the St Charles Arts Council's Arts Business Partners - Fine Line Creative Arts Center, Fox Valley Repertory, Marquee Youth Stage (MY Stage), St. Charles Singers, Steel Beam Theatre, TheMuralist.net, Tony & Friends Art Studio. The SCAC currently produces and sponsors the "neXt gallery" (a pop-up gallery program), and the "Art At Home" series.
About the St. Charles Arts Council:
The SCAC will serve all those individuals (professionals, amateurs, and students) who produce tangible, consumable works of the imagination and all organizations, businesses, and groups that include and represent those people. This would be arts and cultural activities in their broadest sense, including graphic, plastic, and decorative arts, architecture, crafts, literature and poetry, music, theater, and dance.
The primary long-range goal is the transformation of St. Charles into an arts community/an arts magnet/a nationally-known arts market.
Ultimately we foresee a municipal arts center, more working artists and opportunities in arts education, many privately-owned galleries, performance venues, and related arts
About Community Unit School District 303:
Community Unit School District 303 is a high-achieving, pre-K-12 system covering 57.4 square miles in the picturesque Fox River Valley, 40 miles west of Chicago. In July 2011, Family Circle Magazine named St. Charles the Best Town for Families in the United States. Among the reasons why the City of St. Charles was given this honor is the involvement of District 303 in the community and the fact that District 303 works closely with the City of St. Charles, the St. Charles Park District, the St. Charles Public Library and other civic organizations to benefit the residents of the community.
The district operates 12 elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools.

The St. Charles Public Library is an integral part of the community that has met the information and resource needs of St. Charles residents for almost 100 years. The Library is recognized for its outstanding collections and programs. Its Youth, Reference, and Special Services programs and staffs have won state-wide awards for excellence. The community's high use and support of the Library are indicative of the value residents place on it.
Philanthropy has played an important role in the Library's past, from funds for the first Library, the 1908 Carnegie building, to grants from the Norris Foundation to remodel the original 1908 facility. The St. Charles Public Library Foundation continues this tradition of philanthropy and service to the community.
About the St. Charles Park District:
The St. Charles Park District is a special purpose government unit. It is the mission to enrich the quality of life of Park District residents through excellence in programs, parks, facilities, and services.
