Call of the Wild Trek Commemorates 1st American Ascent of Annapurna
Call of the Wild Adventures will lead a trek to the Annapurna Base Camp of Nepal to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the first American team to summit the world's tenth highest mountain.
Online, June 25, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Call of the Wild Adventures, Inc., a leading provider of women's adventure vacations, will lead a trek to the Annapurna Base Camp of Nepal to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the first American team to summit the world's tenth highest mountain. Call of the Wild President, accomplished mountaineer and wilderness guide Emilie Cortes will guide the 17-day trek in November 2013.
Annapurna's 26,545-foot peak was first summited by an American team in 1978, led by mountaineering legend Arlene Blum. This team, Women's Himalayan Expeditions, was a pioneering group of female climbers who lived by the slogan "a woman's place is on top."
2013 also marks the 35th anniversary of Call of the Wild, the world's longest-running women's-only adventure travel company.
