Bullion Data Launches Free Online Precious Metal Bullion Mintage Database

Bullion Data, a precious metal statistics company, announced the launch of their online database for precious metal bullion mintage information, free to use from today.

Sydney (I-Newswire) December 22, 2011 - Bullion refers to items produced with a high content of precious metals, where there value is usually based on the metal content, rather than any numismatic (collector) value. Some of the world’s best known silver bullion coins include varieties of the American Silver Eagle, Canadian Silver Maple Leaf and the Fiji Taku. Over thirty million American Silver Eagle silver bullion coins, made by the United States Mint, will be sold this year.

Many collectors and investors of precious metals, such as gold and silver bullion coins, often find it difficult to source reliable bullion mintage information. “We really thought about the end consumer and what they wanted from a versatility standpoint. Using the Mediawiki platform, best known as the platform used by Wikipedia, browsing the large database should be easy for anyone familiar with using Wikipedia. Although there are already over one thousand items in the database from dozens of world mints, plans are to expand this much further. “Our aim is to offer the world’s most comprehensive online bullion mintage database and cover products from all major world mints, the database is only in an early stage,” said Anthony.

The site provides the ability to search hundreds of bullion items by Mint, Series or Country and is available to use from today. Although using a Wiki platform, editing access has been heavily restricted in order to improve the accuracy of information.
