Buffalo Technology Provides Network Storage Solution For Fiberoptic Components, LLC

When presented with Fiberoptic Components’ need to upgrade their data storage system from paper to electronic, John Roche, of eInfosystems.net, turned to Buffalo Technology’s network storage solutions.

Austin, TX (I-Newswire) October 15, 2011 - Buffalo Technology partners with eInfosystems.net to provide TeraStation III iSCSI rackmount network storage devices to Fiberoptic Components for their new data backup and archive project.

Fiberoptic Components recently began to expand its customer base to include healthcare. Due to the expansion and business growth, the project required a systems integrator. John Roche, president of einfosystems.net, was approached to be the systems integrator for Fiberoptic Components’ solution to create, store and access electronic documents, which were currently being stored in hard copy format.

“Due to the new regulations Fiberoptic Components were facing now that they had expanded their industry reach into the medical field, it became critical to store mass amounts of paper docs so they could be preserved and accessible for years to come,” Roche said. “I’d used Buffalo products in other projects before and knew a TeraStation would be the right fit for this project.”

Buffalo Technology’s TeraStation III iSCSI rackmount network storage device was selected as part of the archive and backup storage solution. The staff at Fiberoptic Components now scans thousands of documents, creating a 50KB PDF for each “package” file, thus removing the boxes from the floor and the storage room, which saves them floor space and allows for easy data retrieval. Fiberoptic Components estimates thousands of document packages need to be created and have scheduled at minimum one year just to back up the current archives. The project of scanning began in late 2010, and it is expected to continue for at least one more year.

“One reason the TeraStation III iSCSI was such a good fit for this project is they needed to add a large amount of storage to an existing server, with capacity for the next 24-36 months,” Roche said.

The TeraStation III iSCSI Rackmount network storage device offers a high performance data backup solution with business-class features that makes use of existing Ethernet infrastructure, providing a simple way to consolidate data storage systems for workstations and servers. The user-friendly iSCSI interface makes it easy to attach network storage to multiple PCs or servers or monitor controllers, which will help during the next upgrade.
