BubbleConf: a Conference for Today's Tech Start Ups on Design, Development and Entrepreneurship

On September 27, over 400 developers, designers and entrepreneurs are invited to come share their knowledge and war stories during BubbleConf 2013 in the Beurs van Berlage.

BubbleConf is the premier conference in Amsterdam on design, development and entrepreneurship. The first edition was held last year in the Tuschinski Theater in Amsterdam and had about 400 attendees from all over the world. Due to popular demand, the organizing parties Nedap N.V. and Phusion have once again teamed up in setting up a 2013 edition. "We're still deeply humbled and blown away by the fact that about 400 people put their blind trust in us to deliver an unforgettable day filled with ideas and inspiration to apply to their own work life", Ninh Bui of Phusion says. "How is this conference any different from the other conferences out there? Well, BubbleConf is unique as it is dedicated to covering a wide range of topics. These are topics that we believe are essential for today's tech startups ranging from design, development to even the legal aspects of having a startup. We are really excited to organize BubbleConf again this year and we hope to outdo last year's edition."

The Conference Day
BubbleConf 2013 will be held in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam on September 27th. Sharon Beening of Nedap explains: "The Beurs van Berlage is an amazing venue located right in the heart of the Amsterdam city center. This makes the venue easily accessible from pretty much anywhere and its location provides our international attendees a small taste of what Amsterdam has to offer: pretty much everything is within a few seconds of walking distance. The unique history and impressive ambience of the Beurs van Berlage will give an extra dimension to BubbleConf as well; large art-deco rooms and on-site amenities such as a cozy pub and WIFI internet will allow our attendees to share their knowledge with one another in a gorgeous setting." The folks behind BubbleConf went all out in securing some of the best speakers in the business for the 2013 edition of their conference. Designers will be delighted to learn that Dribbble founders Dan Cederholm and Rich Thornett will be speaking at BubbleConf about arguably the hottest design community currently out there. They will share their thoughts on bootstrapping, design and pretty much anything you want to ask them in a Q&A session. Zed Shaw, the prolific programmer who gave up coding for various enterprises to work on teaching people to code, will once again take the stage at BubbleConf. This will be his last talk however as he will be retiring from speaking at tech conferences after BubbleConf 2013. His "Learn Code The Hard Way" Series have been read by over a million people from all over the world. This is only a glimpse of all the interesting and amazing people that will be speaking at BubbleConf.

What's in a name?
"BubbleConf is our tongue-in-cheek play on the stock market bubble we think is currently happening in IT land", explains Ninh Bui. To famously quote my friend Thijs van der Vossen: "when photo sharing sites are valued more than space travel, you have to stop and wonder." The name goes deeper than that though: In the case of BubbleConf, when Hongli and I first bootstrapped Phusion about 5 years ago, we understood the value of networking with other companies but simply couldn't afford to shell out 1500 bucks to attend a conference at that time. We felt that such ticket prices only allowed for VC backed companies to attend and felt that that was kind of unfair towards bootstrapped companies. Our friends over at Nedap felt the same way and we worked with them in delivering a high-end conference at a fraction of the cost our attendees would normally have to pay. This is only possible due to the fact that neither parties want to profit financially from this conference; we just feel it's the right thing to do to encourage startups to just go about and make awesome stuff." BubbleConf is a conference for tech startups by tech startups. Although Nedap is a publicly traded tech company they have managed to keep the startup culture deeply embedded in their DNA. By organizing an event as BubbleConf Nedap wants to get in touch with young talent and encourage entrepreneurship. Nedap CEO Ruben Wegman explains: "Nedap wants to contribute to the international startup scene. We want to bring young, talented people together. Their ideas and enthusiasm will lead to evolving markets and nowadays that's exactly what we need. In the end, this has a positive effect on the whole society, nationally and internationally. Entrepreneurship is exactly what has made BubbleConf possible, since it is an initiative from employees of Nedap and Phusion." www.bubbleconf.com
