Brooklyn Homeowners Insurance Directory Makes Finding Property Insurance Simple

bernice (I-Newswire) December 14, 2011 - Homeowners and renters in Brooklyn, New York now have an easy way to find insurance for their property, with the recent launch of a user-submitted provider directory at http://www.BrooklynHomeownersInsurance.com.

The directory is a cooperative effort of web development firm Evil Guinea Pig Productions and the users of the directory.

The initial directory entries were generated from local yellow pages listings, says Evil Guinea Pig Productions Creative Director Angie Dixon. “We wanted to give everyone a listing, so the users of the directory would have as many choices as possible."

But Dixon says the Brooklyn Homeowners Insurance Directory is a growing, evolving project. “We invite users to submit listings or additions to listings, and we hope that insurance agents and brokers will send us more information about their businesses so we can add it to the listing.

Why is there a need for a free directory when AngiesList.com seems to be all the rage right now?

“Angies List is great," Dixon says. I have a subscription myself. But not everyone wants to pay for information like this, not everyone can, and there's always room for both free and paid directories."

Asked why a web development firm would be interested in developing a directory for Brooklyn homeowners insurance, Dixon replies, “We love helping people find information, and designing websites is what we do. We're planning to develop a number of local directories and hope they will help people use the Internet more effectively to find what they're looking for.

Isn't that what Google and other search engines are for?

“Yes, it is, but with a search engine you may not see all the options when you search for Brooklyn homeowners insurance. You'll just see what comes to the top, and you may miss an agent or broker closer to your home or with whom you've worked before but couldn't remember the name."

Again, Dixon says, “There is always room for a good local directory."
