Bronze For Move One Dubai Sea Dragons!
Taking part in the annual Stanley International Dragon Boat Championship, the rowing team sponsored by Move One Relocations finished as third.
Online, June 28, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Move One's rowing team participated in the annual Stanley International Dragon Boat Championships near Hong Kong, competing against numerous other teams from around the world.
The group of expat women from Dubai have been rowing since 2007, when they first discovered their passion for the sport.
The team has since grown and competed in numerous races including the Penang International Dragon Boat Races and the Stanley International Dragon Boat Championships.
With increasing interest from fellow expats, the Dubai Sea Dragons Dragon Boat Club was founded in order to welcome more people.
As of October 2009, Move One has been the proud sponsor of the team, which has now been newly renamed 'Move One Dubai Sea Dragons'.
We got involved with the team when Erika Clements, Move One's Managing Director, was introduced to the sport on a family visit to Dubai in 2009. One of her great friends, Luanna, told her that she had recently started dragon boating regularly in the mornings off the beach at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, catching Erika's interest for the sport.
Dating back hundreds of years in China's history, this water sport involves a team of 20 paddlers that sit two in a row in a long, narrow canoe-like boat. Additionally, a helmsman steers the serpent shaped boat from the back with one big oar and a drum, often referred to as the heart beat of the boat, setting the pace for the rowers at the front.
With many more competitions on the horizon and an ever growing club, they will also be welcoming a new member this September, as Erika will take on the challenge of dragon boat racing herself.
