For the first time in India ,Broadband Wi-Fi Internet in Trains

A pilot project Secured Broadband Wi-Fi on trains has been completed by Techno Sat Comm (India) Pvt. Ltd. on Howrah – New Delhi Rajdhani Express of Eastern Railways.

During the trial run on Howrah New Delhi Rajdhani Express , Techno Sat Comm have got 99% connectivity with a throughput dedicated bandwidth of 4Mbps. The System shall be password protected and uses multilayer of security features with firewalls to protect from hacking.

"Passengers will be able to use high speed Wi-Fi internet for Email, facebook, Social media, File downloads, Videos, Skype Call, YouTube,Movies on demand etc. The services offered to passengers shall be free of cost as a passenger amenity initiative by Railways. Passengers will have to provide mobile no.,PNR no., Government ID for getting the password by SMS on mobile."The services shall be opened for passenger by 15 March 2013.

According to Jagdip Rana, Director of Business development of technosatcomm, "The measures are being taken for optimizing the servicesto 99.5% connectivity.The systems shall be scaled to 3rd Generation of Satellite based Wi-Fi and interactive multimedia entertainment with IPTV in future.
