(I-Newswire) April 10, 2010 - NewGen wastewater treatment Plant Launched in U.K.
New Generation Plant Provides De-centralised Wastewater Solution

10th April, 2010, Celje, Slovenia. Anaerobic digestion (AD) is being used in a new generation of wastewater treatment plant being marketed by EKO GEA, a Slovenian manufacturer of biological products for the waste sector. The NewGen Plant will be launched in the U.K. during IWEX (International Water and Effluent Exhibition) from 20-22 April, 2010. EKO-Algae Ltd., EKO GEA’s UK distributor, will be exhibiting at Stand A28 during the show.

The NewGen plant incorporates a simple design with a small footprint and requires no power whatsoever. At its core is specially-sourced bio-media and EKO GEA’s proprietary bio-active marine algae additive which stabilises and promotes the anaerobic microbiology needed to complete the wastewater treatment process.

“This NewGen plant is a breakthrough in low-cost, responsible wastewater treatment”, said Goran Dordič, chief scientist of EKO GEA. “It can be used in both residential and industrial applications - large and small – and is truly unique for a number of reasons: our biology feeds, protects, and shelters microbes for the most efficient treatment system available on the market. The surface area provided by the media means an exponential increase in the number of microbial ‘workers’ needed to complete treatment, and the 87% methane gas being generated by our NewGen plant means the potential is there to harness energy as well.”

The NewGen plant is run at a fraction of the cost of conventional wastewater systems, and in remote areas where there are no mains sewerage services, even in cold climates. There are no sanitation issues as the natural biology effectively completes the disinfection process while completely eliminating odours in EKO GEA’s ion-exchange capacity. Ion exchange plus the enhanced biology means the plant can handle toxins and heavy metals from leachate and industrial effluents – unheard of advancements in such a low-cost offering.

The design is being manufactured by APlast Rotomoulding to meet all of the required EN Standards for underground water and sewage handling.

EKO GEA provides a full line of marine algae-based products which feed and protect microbes in the waste reduction and bio-fuel production sectors. The Company has a loyal customer base of biogas producers who use EKO GEA’s fermentation product to increase methane in both quality and quantity. EKO GEA recently launched its website in English at www.ekogea.com/en .

This NewGen wastewater plant is another example of EKO GEA’s efficacy in AD processes – simple, low-cost, biological solutions for intensely biological processes. EKO GEA’s technology promotes healthy families of bacteria – feeding and protecting conventional microbes in a truly unique manner so that anaerobic digestion is completed.
