Bonnington Plastics Release Advice on Winter Dog Care
A large proportion of Bonnington Plastics’ customer base invests in pet care products on a regular basis. In light of the recent weather and predicted cold snaps the company has released advice on winter dog care to retailers and customers alike.
Nottingham (I-Newswire) February 6, 2013 - The UK public appears unable to escape extreme weather. The months leading up to the end of 2012 were unnaturally wet, with the year becoming the second wettest in UK history despite a severe spring drought, and fluctuating periods of overwhelmingly low temperatures have already occurred in January, and are predicted for February.
Dogs are similar to humans in a notable way, that winter often sees them becoming incredibly vulnerable to illness. Bonnington Plastics have a sizable base of customers investing in their wide variety of dog care products, and have now released their advice on caring for dogs over winter to help retailers service consumers better.
Most winter dogs will be kept inside for as large a part of the winter as can be achieved. When left outside they find themselves needing substantially more food, depending on the breed and health of the animal, and become more susceptible to disease. Yet many dogs aren’t appropriate for staying indoors, as wide sales of kennels demonstrates. Kennels should be properly insulated, with many owners using natural products to insulate the floor, for instance straw, wood shavings or wood chips. These will keep dogs comfortable and warm, and if the kennel is faced or moved towards the house owners can minimise the effect of chilling winds.
Bonnington Plastics supply gritting salt and de-icing solutions to many of their customers, who also choose to supply a wide variety of dog care products to their customers. Retailers need to make it perfectly clear than de-icing salt is often highly toxic to dogs, and consumers should only grit and ice areas their dogs won’t be walking on unattended. Again, while antifreeze is a useful and important product it has a surprisingly sweet taste, and dogs will quickly drink the dangerous product without realising the damage it wreaks on their bodies.
A customer service representative was able to take the time to comment on the company’s advice. “We sell an immense number of products, with over one thousand separate categories listed on our website, with far more products within those groups. Dog care products are one of our most popular ranges, going out not only to specialist stores with experience in pet equipment but also to general purpose stores. We feel it’s very important that both retailers and consumers understand the best way to keep animals safe over winter, so products can be marketed and bought in an informed and respectable manner.”
Bonnington Plastics are a Nottingham based supplier of home wares, pet care products and gardening accessories. They’ve been dealing wholesale to businesses across the UK since 1945, and intend to see their trade expand even further in coming years.
