Bonnington Plastics Announce Garden Wintering Products
Current weather forecasts predict cold periods complete with killing frosts to be arriving soon. Bonnington Plastics are releasing advice to gardeners on how to winter plants safely, making good use of their product range.
Nottingham (I-Newswire) January 14, 2013 - The UK has deterred snow so far. A few colder locations in the south of the country experienced some snowfall, but immense levels of rainfall dominated the landscape nationwide. Over eight thousand homes were damaged, and hundreds more were evacuated. Sudden freezes are predicted for mid-January, and are expected to remain for a lengthy period, extrapolated from the trend seen in recent winters of extreme weather fronts lasting for longer periods.
Though the season has remained temperate so far, gardeners will now be seeking methods for overwintering garden plants in the immediate future to capitalise on the relatively high temperatures while they last. Considering this, Bonnington Plastics have released advice on using their products to secure plants during the winter.
A representative from Bonnington Plastics explained uses of their products, and their applicable benefits to consumers. “It’s important to overwinter plants, since not even hardy specimens are consistently resistant to killing frost. Depending on the level of investment consumers desire there are many available solutions. Sprays can keep leaves safe from frost and insects, while weed control meshes are laid under mulch and pathways to stop weeds in their tracks. Defending against the wind and snow is essential, so shrubs can have warming bags placed over them. For plants too weak to carry this insulation we stock bamboo canes and wire netting, allowing gardeners to construct their own insulation cages.”
Doing so is a simple task. Larger trees can be wrapped in various insulators such as bubble wrap and straw. Then the tree is secured with a layer of netting made from wire or string. Delicate plants may not be able to handle this treatment, instead requiring a constructed frame to insulate them. A cage, cylinder or cone can be constructed from bamboo canes, before being filled with any aforementioned insulators. The entire structure will then be wrapped in chicken wire, or covered with a warming bag for added safety and insulation.
Bonnington Plastics are a Nottingham-based wholesaler, providing retailers across the nation with a range of gardening equipment and outdoors products since 1967. With their range of products and advice they intend to see gardeners fully capable of securing their property year-through.
