Boatbuilders Put Classic Folios On The Crest Of A Wave

Classic Folios, a company famous for manufacturing homeowners' manuals, is strengthening its presence in the marine sector.

Eastleigh, Hampshire (I-Newswire) September 3, 2011 - A Hampshire company that manufactures bespoke marine folios and log books is celebrating orders from a trio of leading boat builders.

Classic Folios is providing leather bound presentation folders to Lymington-based Scorpion RIBs, as well as Oyster Marine and Hunton Powerboats, as it continues to strengthen its presence in the boating and yachting sector.

Every folio is designed and made to suit the customer’s corporate branding and content requirements.

Classic Folios’ Managing Director Tim Wood said: “Each marine folio is made exclusively in the UK to exacting production standards that ensure it is prestigious and robust enough to last the entire life of the vessel. This proves invaluable for manufacturers when the vessel is sold on as their brand remains connected to that vessel.”

Hunton Powerboats, launched in 1979 by offshore racing champion Jeff Hunton, builds prestigious, high-performance powerboats at a factory in Romsey. Over time they have built an impressive range of world-class luxury and performance powerboats.

Ipswich-based Oyster Marine is an international market leader of luxury cruising yachts while Scorpion RIBs in Lymington produces high-quality rigid inflatable boats.

The new marine orders come as Classic Folios continues to build on its core business of supplying homeowners’ manuals. The company has just celebrated its most successful month with more than 9,000 manuals ordered.

One of its long-standing marine clients is the superyacht builder and brokerage, Burgess, which has ordered hundreds of bespoke leatherbound Captain’s Packs for its vessels.

Classic Folios has ensured the packs conform to an essential part of Burgess’s ISM safety management system and yacht handover process. The folios hold security and fleet circulars, safety and security manuals, record books and SSPs.

Six Classic Folios packs, covering navigational policy and bridge procedures, are stored on the bridge of the ocean liner Queen Mary 2.

A made-to-measure manual was also dispatched to Rhodes, Greece, to fit the sailing schedule of the luxury yacht Lady Dahlia built by the Italian manufacturer ISA.

Folio features include real leather hide, magnetic closure, contemporary synthetic materials with contrast stitching in special sizes and made to measure printed fill.

Eastleigh-based Classic Folios employs 17 people and has a £1.8 million annual turnover.
