Beyond Gap Year Program In Tel Aviv

BBYO Beyond, a gap year program for post high school Jewish students will be basing their 2013-2014 Israel program in Tel Aviv.

Washington,DC (I-Newswire) December 11, 2012 - BBYO Beyond, a gap year program for post high school Jewish students will be utilizing the innovation that is infused in Israel, by basing their 2013-2014 gap year program in Tel Aviv. The Genome Startup group recently listed Tel Aviv as the number two city that support startup companies, just behind California’s Silicon Valley and ahead of Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, Boston and London.

There are currently more than one thousand high tech companies in Tel Aviv, and Beyond expects to utilize that feature in their gap year program. Combining both formal and informal educational experiences Beyond will encourage participants to educate themselves about the multitude of opportunity that Israel offers an entrepreneur. Further, workshops will be held where participants will be able to see the innovation in action, meet with Israeli leaders who have pioneered new social ventures, and begin to create their own plan for innovation.

Prominent Israeli innovations include the Disk-on-Key aka the flash drive, instant messaging, the Showtime program Homeland, and VocaPeople. Further, companies like A Better Place, the electric car network, are important not only for their innovation, but for how their innovation will affect the world at large. Environmentalism is a category within the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam, which means repairing the world. “It is our responsibility to take care of the world that we live in”, said Rina Rebibo program manager for Beyond. “By living in the first Jewish modern city of Israel, Tel Aviv, our participants will not only be at the center of modern Jewish innovation, but be able to take the elements of entrepreneurship and creativity and use them in their future. Whether they want to invent the next big thing, create new artwork, or design an original social venture that will make an impact on the world, Tel Aviv has all the components necessary to make this possible.”

Beyond will begin at the end of August 2013. There is an option for a 5-month or a 9-month session. The 5-month session is $15,250 and the 9-month session is $20,950. For more information on Beyond, please visit http://beyondyear.org/
