Bethlehem Lutheran Church Supports Youth Organization Program With Major Donation

Epic Youth Organization announces donation by Bethlehem Lutheran Church. EPIC also announces its 1st Annual Green & Blue Kickoff Event on Saturday, April 6 at Elgin Academy.

After careful research of the EPIC Youth organization, and a meeting with its founders, Bethlehem Lutheran Church's leaders decided to support EPIC Youth and give a financial boost to EPIC Youth in 2013, their freshman season. The church, which is over 100 years in existence, has committed to giving EPIC Youth a $6000 donation over the course of the year. On Monday April 1, Bethlehem Lutheran gave EPIC Youth a donation of $1500 to help with initial expenses, and committed to a donation of $500 each month for the remainder of the year.

EPIC Youth will use this donation to help cover the initial costs of their travel basketball program, EPIC Hoopz. EPIC Hoopz is building an elite travel program that currently has 6 teams, ages 10-15 years old. Bethlehem Lutheran Church's initial donation has made it possible for EPIC to give scholarships to 12 less fortunate families. The monthly donations will go towards gym space for practice, tournament entry fees, and expenses associated with the leadership development workshops for EPIC staff.

EPIC Hoopz will host its 1st Annual Green & Blue Kickoff Event on Saturday, April 6 at Elgin Academy (350 Park St., Elgin, IL 60120). This event starts the season with a game by each grade level. There will be more information on EPIC Youth and EPIC Hoopz teams, along with a great showcase of the talent by each team. The EPIC Hoopz regular season begins April 13th and is scheduled through the middle of the summer, with tournaments all over Northern Illinois and Wisconsin. Leadership development workshops and multiple service events are woven into the youth teams' schedules, along with weekly devotionals.
