Online, June 5, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Belmar Boardwalk ReopeningMay 22nd, 20135th & Ocean AvenueBelamr, New JerseyOn hand for the reopening ceremony for the Belmar Boardwalk that was destroyed in the October 29th Superstorm Sandy were Governor Chris Christie, Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty and Senator Bob Henendez.
Sharing the honor at the reopening ceremony were Belmars own Pipes & Drums of the Jersey Shore Shilllelaghs lead by Pipe Major John Giblin. Pictured with Governor Chris Christie are classical & flamenco guitarist and bagpiper David Cohen, along with fellow pipers Carol Benvin Bowers, Tom Carroll and Austin Mueller.
David Cohen is a multi-instrumentalist who won the 2013 JAM Award ( Jersey Acoustic Musician) for guitar instrumentalist. David Cohen was the first classical musician to be nominated in the JAM Awards. Cohen has studios (Guitar Point) in both Philadelphia and Ocean Grove, New Jersey where he teaches guitar. The Pipes & Drums of the Jersey Shore Shillelaghs are located in Belmar, New Jersey and perform throughout the state and maintain a very active performance schedule year round.
