Bay Area Consortium For Quality Healthcare launches new program that offers youth a chance to learn how to jump start an eco-friendly business.

(I-Newswire) March 16, 2010 - Oakland, Mar 16, 2010 — The Bay Area Consortium for Quality Health Care (BACQHC) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing health care services in Alameda County, California for over 30 years, today announced the grand opening of their Water Bar -- "New Waters Rising". New Waters Rising is part of the Consortium's Go Green initiative led by Dr. Gwen Sykes. This program uniquely combines many objectives -- sustainability, business and knowledge into one program that will benefit the surrounding community on many levels.

The concept of a Water Bar is new, but becoming more popular. The program at the Bay Area Consortium is part of Dr. Sykes vision of educating the youth of Alameda County on health and wellness while providing a forum for the youth to learn about business. By using the concept of the Water Bar the youth are able to participate in the New Waters Rising Program as it is being built while being paid for their services. The end result is a program that educates the youth on health, wellness and going green in a forum that will introduce business concepts while they are getting paid via a grant.

New Waters Rising is open for business. The foundation for the New Waters Rising program is ionized alkaline water. Using a water ionizer, tap water goes through a 10-stage purification process and then moves across electrodes that increase the alkalinity of the water. "The ionizer machines are costly, said Sandra Madison, Program Coordinator of the Family Life resource Center, Bay Area Consortium for Quality Health Care, Inc., so we decided that we'd like to offer the ionized, alkaline water to our staff, clients and patients. It is a great service for individuals who want to cut down disposable plastic and ensure that they know where their water is coming from. It takes ordinary tap water and purifies it using an IonWays Biostone filter and the water tastes amazing."
New Waters Rising is now open for business. For the first 30 days The Bay Area Consortium is offering free ionized, alkaline water through the month of April at their Market Street and Berkeley Clinics. To take advantage of the free alkaline water, please bring water bottles or you can buy a New Waters Rising bottle at either location. After April the Bay Area Consortium will charge a nominal fee.
