Balentine, an independent, employee-owned investment advisory firm, announced its 2013 Summer Reading List today. This is the third consecutive year that Balentine has released a summer reading list. The 2013 list is comprised of 11 books that range from Haruki Murakami's much anticipated magnum opus 1Q84 to Hellhound on His Trail, Hampton Side's gripping story about the search for Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassin.

Balentine solicited suggestions from Balentine employees and narrowed that list to 11 fiction and non-fiction books. Following the popularity of last year's The Invention of Hugo Cabret with younger and older readers alike, Balentine selected books that appeal to a wide age range. The 2013 list includes two books recommended by the children of Balentine team members - Officer Buckle and Gloria and Hatchet - as well as John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, a young adult book that has proven particularly popular with adult audiences. In addition, this year's list includes several non-fiction books focusing on nature, history, politics and economics.

"The summer reading list has taken on a life of its own here at Balentine. Our team and partners have offered wonderful recommendations, and we even included the children this year," said Brittain Prigge, a founding partner and Head of Relationship Management at Balentine. She continued, "We hope that our friends and clients enjoy the list and take a look at the commentary that will be provided throughout the summer by those who gave the recommendations. Enjoy!"

Balentine will share recommendations throughout the summer on the Balentine Facebook page and via the Balentine Summer Reading Pinterest boards.
