Baker and The Book Event: Former African American Nun Authors Fiction Mystery to Host Book Signing
The bonds of sisterhood uncover the truth in a psychologist patient’s death.
Atlanta, GA (I-Newswire) September 26, 2012 - Atlanta’s premier cupcake bakery has joined with author Deborah Plummer Bussey for an evening of intrigue and confectionary delight as the baker and the author host a book signing for the debut fiction novel, “They Still Call Me Sister.” (ISBN 0615484794) Plummer Bussey entertains readers with a stirring cozy mystery about obsession, a death investigation, and political scandal in Atlanta, Georgia. The protagonist, Kathy Carpenter, is an African American psychologist and former nun in the book, whose character was inspired by Plummer Bussey’s life experiences and developed through her creativity.
Deborah Plummer Bussey, a regularly featured blogger for the Huffington Post and a guest commentator for local and national television news programs has toured the country promoting “They Still Call Me Sister,” to enthused booklovers. The novel intertwines Plummer Bussey’s devotion to her sisters and the struggles to balance her privileged doctor-patient obligation with her conviction to pursue justice.
“This fictitious psychological thriller and mystery will trigger conversations about racial identity, politics, and the intersection of religion,” Plummer Bussey said. “It will also characterize the private life of political figures and the lengths some of them take to manage corruption and mental illness while seeking political gain.” Event attendees will be able to enjoy the author’s discussion on the cozy mystery as well as the relaxed atmosphere of The Cup Gourmet with cupcakes made especially for the event.
