Award Winning Filmmaker Producing New Film for Peace
Documentary filmmaker Bo Boudart has begun shooting his latest project, Paying the Price for Peace: The Story of S. Brian Willson, which tells the story of his courageous attempts to promote peace through non-violent actions.
Berkeley (I-Newswire) October 3, 2012 - Bo Boudart Productions is seeking to raise awareness for the fundraising campaign for the feature documentary. Paying the Price for Peace is in the initial stages of production and has found support on the Indiegogo crowdsource-funding campaign, www.indiegogo.com/payingthepriceforpeace. The campaign started on August 11th and will end October 11th with a goal to raise $55,000.00. Contributions to the film have been made from over a hundred donors including multiple chapters of Veteran’s for Peace, Noam Chomsky, Medea Benjamin, Frank Dorrel, and Frances Fisher. In exchange for contributions, donors receive copies of the finished documentary, movie posters, peace-pins or even credit in the film. Funds raised will go towards production expenses for crew, travel to interview subjects, and prepare footage for post-production.
S. Brian Willson, an Air Force Vietnam Veteran turned Peace Activist, lost both of his legs during a peaceful demonstration when he was struck by a munitions train that refused to stop for protesters in Concord, California. Subsequent to Willson’s attack on the tracks, thousands of anti-war demonstrators ripped up the railroad tracks and blocked all trains for the following 865 days in protest of all munitions shipments to Nicaragua or El Salvador after the train ran over Willson. At that time, Congress had passed legislation that prohibited funding the covert US backed wars to overthrow democratically elected governments in Central American countries, but the Administration illegally continued to support the Contra war and ordered the train not to stop when Veteran’s stood on the tracks as a part of Nuremberg Actions. September 1, 2012 was the 25th anniversary of the day Brian Willson was run over by the train and several dozen activists reunited at the Concord tracks to renew their commitments to ending US wars worldwide.
