Avoid Skin Infections with natural ingredients, says experts at Defensesoap.com

Natural ingredients have proven to be a better alternative to antibacterial soaps in skin care affected with various skin infections and MRSA skin infection is no exception.

(I-Newswire) November 17, 2009 - Cleveland, OH. - Antibacterial soaps, gels, wipes and sprays that use chemicals offer little health benefits over natural antimicrobial essential oils. In fact, antibacterial products may actually be less effective against MRSA Skin Infection, says Guy Sako, A Cleveland Ohio police officer and youth wrestling coach.

Mr. Sako and his team found that washing hands with an antibacterial soap was no more effective in preventing MRSA skin infection than plain soap. Furthermore, antibacterial products sold at retail seemed to have the reverse effect. Infections did clear up but returned in full force soon thereafter. To make matters worse it appeared that antibiotic resistance developed in the more severe cases resulting in potentially life threatening infections like MRSA skin infection.

The study, "Consumer Antibacterial Soaps: Effective or Just Risky?" appears in the August edition of Clinical Infectious Diseases. The team looked at 27 studies conducted between 1980 and 2006, and found that products containing triclosan within the range of concentrations commonly used in the community setting (0.1 to 0.45 percent wt/vol) were no more effective than plain soaps.

The simple solution for Mr. Sako and his wrestling team was this: essential oils. By incorporating natural antimicrobial essential oils like Tea Tree Oils and Oils of Eucalyptus in a soap bar he was able to control the spread of skin infection like MRSA skin infection, Staph skin infections, Impetigo, Herpes, Jock Itch and Athlete’s Foot etc. on his team, avoid antibiotic resistance and minimize re occurring outbreaks.

The evidence showing the effectiveness of essential oils is widely known. The risks of using natural oils as a component of good hygiene are practically non-existent. Still Mr. Sako conducted his own clinical studies. The results were so successful he developed the “Defense Soap” range of advanced hygiene product for use among the wrestling and MMA communities - Two groups known to have serious concerns about skin infections due to the nature skin-to-skin contact sports.
