For some of us, the images of the French New Wave are burned into our memory forever; a stranger in the night, cars racing through the street, a woman searching for her love. For Lucid Films, the New Wave is an attitude that flowed through each film, oozing with originality and innovation, expressed through the imagery. This feeling is what we love about film, and it’s what we want to bring to this work. At its very core, this will be a visceral chase film that never stops moving, with a style as cool as can be.

Paris, 1961. 12am - 5am

Cafe bombings, assassinations, and terrorist attacks plague France as the Algerian war rages on. Like most citizens, Gabrielle tries to stay out of trouble, but when she is thrown in harms way, she has no choice but to run and hide. As rebels chase after her, a mysterious stranger intervenes, linking the two for the rest of the night. Now, they must survive together and fight a war that neither of them believe in...

Until only one is left alive.

For fans of film, photography, and jazz, this will be a love letter to the glory days of the new wave, filled with beautiful imagery and an improvised score inspired by the immortal Miles Davis. As we blend our own sensibilities with the classic films that came before, we aim to create an original look into the past. As well, by using the techniques of French New Wave cinema we hope to recapture the magic of those timeless films with authenticity and imagination. Filmed on location in Paris, this short will draw inspiration from the city that started it all.

Embracing the ever changing face of film finance and fundraising, Lucid Film Productions has collaborated with Indiegogo on a crowdfunding campaign.
