Avalon Waterways and 90octane Win 2011 Silver Magellan Award from Travel Weekly Magazine

Online, November 16, 2011 (Newswire.com) - River and small-ship cruise line Avalon Waterways, a member of the Globus family of brands, and digital marketing agency 90octane earned a 2011 Silver Magellan Award from Travel Weekly magazine in the 'Cruise Ship, Advertising/Marketing Campaign' category for a 2011 multimedia marketing program that introduced and promoted the Avalon Panorama. Avalon Waterways and 90octane are recognized alongside American Express Travel, Holland America Line, Celebrity Cruises and other prominent brands featured on this year's list of Magellan Award Winners.

Utilizing both on- and offline media, Avalon Waterways and 90octane collaborated with creative agency Cactus Communications to develop a comprehensive branding program for the industry's first Suite Ship. Elements of the program included website development, direct mail pieces, third-party emails, banner advertisements and custom Facebook features. In addition to executing all search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, 90octane managed media planning and oversaw social media presence.

The program resulted in a 107% increase in unique views year-over-year in the first month and drove demand to help the Avalon Panorama sell out its inaugural year.
