Autographs-Store Sports Memorabilia Chain and Distribution Company based in Sittingbourne, Kent raised nearly £4,000 for the generally recognised Help for Heroes charity earlier this month.

(I-Newswire) March 22, 2010 - Autographs-Store Sports Memorabilia Chain and Distribution Company based in Sittingbourne, Kent raised nearly £4,000 for the generally recognised Help for Heroes charity earlier this month.

The event, which was held at Oakley House in Bromley was a charity dinner held by the signed sports memorabilia company in an effort to help the charity reach its new fundraising goal which is called the Launchpad to Life appeal. The London Legends dinner, was attended by some of our country’s brave soldiers as well as some big names in London football, including Neil Ruddock, Tony Gale and Julian Dicks.

"With over 250 people attending the charity dinner and lots of opportunities to win some fabulous prizes supplied by the Autographs Store the night always was going to help benefit a great cause." said Matt Spiers, One of the Founding Directors of Autographs-Store.

Once everyone was seated in the banqueting hall the evening was kicked off by renowned comedian and charity auctioneer Russ Williams who got everyone warmed up and in high spirits ready to raise money for the charity. With a brief description of each prize described to the 250 guests, which included Mohammed Ali signed shorts, England sports memorabilia centre court tickets at Wimbledon, and the silent auction to follow the Autographs Store had made sure that the prizes on offer would have everyone reaching for their pockets for the charity.

With a moving speech from Lance Corporal Chris Hill that explained to everyone why these events are there and how they benefit the charity the bidding got under way. Once the bidding on the first round of auction items had finished it was the London legends turn to take the main stage with a question and answer session with an array of London legends including Kenny Samson, Kerry Dixon, Neil Harris, Tony Gale, Neill Ruddock and Julian Dicks.

The event was a great success with people already enquiring about the next one as they were leaving and with four thousand pounds achieved just from the Bromley Charity event and with one also sponsored and run by the Autographs Store happening on the same night in Northampton due to be included in the total, the sports autographs company are already on their way to beating their previous target of £85,000 raised for charity.
