Australian Style Covering France This Summer With Shade Sails
Originally developed in Australia to combat the fierce sunlight, shade sails are now gaining popularity world wide but it is the style conscious French market that is seeing the most rapid growth.
Albas (I-Newswire) April 24, 2012 - The use of sail cloth to provide shade has been well established for many years. It is recorded that the Colisseum in Rome was once shaded with huge peices of canvas. In the modern era the shade cloth technology has been developed significantly to produce a lightweight and easy to manage material that blocks 95% of UV radiation and has a porous surface which allows hot air to escape from beneath - providing truly cool shade. Sail Shade World in Australia are the largest manufacturer worldwide with over 60,000 satisfied customers and have a world wide distribution network.
It was to be expected that such a stylish and practical product would find a ready market in other regions of the world with a high degree of summer sun and this has proved to be the case as the product has been rolled out across Europe. What has been surprising is the very rapid growth in the French market, when compared to some other territories like Spain and Italy. It appears that this has quite a lot to do with style in addition to the undoubted practical benefits of the shade sail (known as voile d'ombrage in France and sonnesegel in Germany).
Company marketing manager Dan Murray explains: "Initially we were taken by surprise at the rapid uptake in the French market, particularly compared to some of our other markets. However, our ongoing market research work has shown that it is the unique style of the shade sail that has caught the imagination of the French purchasers. They have been really excited to find a new shade solution as an alternative to the boring parasols and awnings that they have been used to."
The 2012 season has got off to a relatively slow start thanks to the cold and wet weather that has been covering most of Europe, but expectations are that when the sun eventually does come out that the product will continue its rapid growth and sails will be "flying" off the shelves.
Shade sails can be purchased directly on-line from the company's French website: www.voilesdombrage.net.
