Provo, Utah (I-Newswire) March 3, 2012 - The Pantech Element is Pantech’s first stab at a tablet and by taking risks they set themselves apart immediately. The Element is waterproof and has a 4:3 aspect ratio, two features that haven't been seen before on the market saturated with tablets. The Element is the first tablet to be IP57 certified, meaning it can be under 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes without damage. While it’s not a rugged tablet that can handle the elements, it can handle a drop into the sink or a puddle. One reason it’s waterproof is the covers over all of the ports. Make sure they’re fully closed when not using them to keep them protected. The Element measures 8.36 by 6.12 by 0.42, giving it a distinct square look. While the 4:3 aspect ratio shouldn't change much as far as graphics, it does make a few things fit a little differently, for example the keyboard takes up more room on the screen and HD videos don’t fit the screen as naturally.
The Element has Android 3.2 and has a promise to upgrade to Honeycomb in the near future. Pantech mostly kept the interface pure Android, only adding a few tweaks here and there. The dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 and 1GB of RAM makes it extremely smooth and sleek. The Element’s memory is broken into a 12.33GB of free memory and 770MB of memory dedicated for apps. The 6400mAh battery has a rated standby time of 25 days and should easily get you through a day without a recharge, even using AT&T 4G service. The 5 megapixel camera takes great pictures with extremely sharp detail. The camera also has 720p video capture. Connect your tablet using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or HDMI. Use the front facing 2 megapixel camera to take portrait photos or video chat.
We recommend if you plan on using your Element for business or heavy typing to have a Bluetooth keyboard. While the onscreen keyboard is easy to use, it’s much easier in general to use a physical keyboard when doing a lot of typing. The Pantech Element p4100 Motorola Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard with device stand is the perfect travel companion. The Ultra-thin rechargeable keyboard's cover folds into a stand for tablets and smartphones. The Mouse-free cursor control adds productivity without the need to carry a mouse. This ultra-thin, compact Pantech Element p4100 keyboard easily slips into your briefcase or purse to go wherever you need it. And at under 15 ounces, you'll barely know it's there. Plus, you can type the days, weeks and months away without having to recharge. Lose the mouse but not the control. Whether on the kitchen table or your tray table, the built-in mouse stick provides the cursor control you need. Cover protects your keyboard from everyday bumps and conveniently transforms into a stand for your tablet or smartphone. The Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard is great for editing documents, typing long emails and online shopping.
We also recommend using a Bluetooth headset. Because the Element is waterproof, the headset has a waterproof gasket that may be difficult at times to get out. A Bluetooth headset relieves you of this burden and allows you to have crystal clear conversation and audio without being tethered to the tablet. Lightweight and easy to use, the classically stylish Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-208 keeps you connected without tying up your hands. Featuring an adjustable ear loop and good audio quality, this ergonomically designed headset lets you chat in comfort for up to 6.5 hours. Easy to use buttons for power on/off with built in red and green LED showing headset status, answer/end, redial, and voice dial.
• Adjustable ear loop .
• Up to 6.5 hours talk time.
• Up to 150 hours standby time.
• Range 33 feet (10 meters).
