At LET’S HAVE A KID, let the sharenting begin!

LET’S HAVE A KID, a new internet-based community, coins a new term -- "sharenthood".

(I-Newswire) August 6, 2010 - When co-founders Britt and Susan began creating LET’S HAVE A KID, there was a lot to discuss: What’s the LetsHaveAKid.com unique offering? How do we market it? Who really makes up our LET’S HAVE A KID community? As the discussions continued, one term arose again and again. In fact, it became such a part of their vocabulary that it can now be found on almost every page of the LET’S HAVE KID site. That term is ‘sharenthood.’

Britt notes, “‘Sharenthood’ conveys the essence of LET’S HAVE A KID. It’s about coming together in almost an infinite number of possible ways, not only to share in the creation of a child, but to share in building the best life possible for them.”

“I have to admit, the term caught on pretty quick between the two of us.” Susan adds. “It is just one of those words that clicks. It conveys something meaningful and contemporary, yet fun, from the moment you hear it!”

LET’S HAVE A KID has taken it upon themselves to define the word which is already making into the modern lexicon:

The state, position or relation of a sharent.

Someone who either shares responsibility as a child’s primary caregiver, or who plays a role in having the child, via genetic material or as a surrogate.

A “prospective sharent” is someone interested in sharing responsibility as a child’s primary caregiver, or playing a role in having the child, via genetic material or as a surrogate.
