If you are an asthma patient, this can turn out be a raw shocker for you as a new Australian study has revealed that people on steroid injection for the same can be prone to prostrate cancer by 40%.

(I-Newswire) August 10, 2010 - A new study has found some grueling revelations to be made. It has found that the medicine used by a large chunk of men to cure asthma may increase the risk of prostate cancer!

Yes, the study conducted by an eminent team of Australian scientists has found out that men who regularly take an intake of inhaling steroids to keep their asthma under check are 40% more likely to be vulnerable to the men without asthma to develop a tumor.

Amongst others, people who use different kind of inhaler like bronchodilator to relieve wheezing are 36% more likely to suffer from an attack.

However, this info might feel as more shocking to the people who are on a higher dose of asthma and needs frequent doses of steroid injections or so.

According to the said report, among this group, the risk of cancer already increases by a whopping 70%!

Nevertheless, a section of cancer experts does not seems to be in sync with what the study suggests as they think that a small study was not enough to let the panic register amongst the patients to do the talking and said them to stay calm.

In order to find bases to the new study, the cancer experts are of opinion that a detailed study on a much larger canvas is required to be done to spill the correct beans over the authenticity and vulnerability factor of the same before they can suggest a change for asthma drugs.

The results of the study has been published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Prevention & Biomarkers, etc.
