Asian Inspired Handbags Bring Vintage Flair and Sustainable Quality

Hermosa Beach, CA, August 5, 2010 - Independent designer, Alice Huang has created a line of handbags made from unique and authentic vintage kimonos. Each handbag is hand crafted in the U.S. using a mixture of new, organic and recycled materials.

Alice has titled her line "Mei" for the Chinese meaning "beautiful". The line has an obvious Asian influence, as the designer has spent most of her life traveling between Asia and the U.S. Design details in this line are also taken from architecture, landscape and both Eastern and Western art. Aside from Asia and the USA , Huang has also journeyed through Europe , picking up incredible inspiration along the way.

She began collecting vintage kimono fabric while attending college in Hawaii . It was there that she worked part-time at aJapanese Buddhist Temple as a youth program coordinator. Temple members would donate their old kimonos to sell during fundraisers. She fell in love with the intricate details and beautiful patterns of these kimonos and an obsession with textile was born. She knew that one day she would make good use of her vintage collectibles.

Mei Vintage offers exclusive vintage handbags made from the finest leather remnants and exquisite kimono fabric. A handbag from Mei Vintage conveys a sense of true beauty and individuality. Mei Vintage is available exclusively throughwww.meivintage.com and selected fine boutiques across the U.S.
