ART of Leadership, a local non-profit organization, is participating in the Detroit Free Press Marathon in an effort to raise awareness and funds for youth in the community.

(I-Newswire) August 30, 2010 - Detroit, MI – For a third consecutive year, ART of Leadership (ALF) staff and volunteers are putting their time and running skills into their Detroit Free Press Marathon fundraiser.

Organized by ALF staff, the 1-day event is held on behalf of the youth touched by the ART of Leadership program, both to raise funds and to build awareness of the organization’s work. It will be held during the Detroit Free Press Marathon on October, 17th, 2010 at 7:00 a.m. The run will be followed by the Finish Line Brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“On race day, Sunday, October 17th, there may be only one winner in the marathon race, but there could be hundreds of youth who will win through the ART of Leadership programs,” said Denise Stein, ALF President and Founder. “Everyone in the Michigan community wins when young people are empowered to take the lead.”

Fundraising is already under way. If you would like to make a pledge, visit http://www.active.com/donate/artofleadership/artofleadershipmfull or mail donation to 1906 25th Street, Detroit, MI 48216. Make checks payable to ART of Leadership.

The Finish Line Brunch will take place at the Anchor Bar, 450 West Fort Street, Detroit, MI. The Finish Line Brunch is open to the public. Tickets are $12 and proceeds from the brunch will benefit the ART of Leadership Foundation.
