Ar-tic-u-late Thursdays: Professional Growth Through Art, Ideas, And Social Interaction

Decatur, GA (I-Newswire) October 25, 2010 - The event is comprised of a professional speaker series, an opportunity for social networking, and a display of artistic talent. Artistic talent includes any of the following: musicians, vocalist, poets, and visual artists.

This Young Professionals Networking event is scheduled to take place on the 4th Thursday of each month at the Chocolate Bar, located in Downtown Decatur at 201 West Ponce De Leon Avenue,
Suite C Decatur GA, 30030.

This networking opportunity has been created to engage young professionals living and working in DeKalb County and neighboring areas, and is used as a medium to promote the creation and building of business networks among like minded individuals. The aim of the initiative is to create an environment that is conducive for both education and entertainment without being over bearing.

This initiative is the brain-child of Commissioner Larry Johnson, DeKalb County, District 3, and is sponsored in part by Spoken Magazine (a small DeKalb County based Arts-Entertainment Publication) and The Beta Psi Omega Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. (The DeKalb County Alumni Chapter).

The first event took place on September 30th, and featured Leonard Walker, (Senior Vice President and Business Banking Director for Wachovia Bank, N.A. in Atlanta, Georgia), Performance Poet, Shaunteka Curry, (Author, Singer, Writer, Activist), and The Nelson Street Band. The next event will take place October 28th, and will feature LaVon Lewis (Chief Creative Officer of PencilWorx Media), and Performance Poet, Amber Shakir-Greer (B.E.T Lyric Café Artist).

The event will take a brief hiatus during the months of November and December as the 4th Thursday in both months falls on a Holiday. The regular schedule will resume in January 2011.
