(I-Newswire) July 29, 2010 - SEATTLE, Washington – April Winchell, actress, author and creator of the irreverent website Regretsy.com will be appearing at Elliott Bay Book Company on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at 2 p.m., where she will be signing copies of her book, Regretsy: where DIY Meets WTF (Villard) and presenting a multimedia display. April Winchell has been appearing to standing-room only crowds at her recent signings, events that have inspired themed parades, contests, and bad craft exhibitions.

Regretsy: Where DIY Meets WTF is a comic tour de force highlighting the ill-conceived, bizarre, and downright laughable attempts at arts and crafts items available for sale on the Internet. Under the pseudonym Helen Killer, April Winchell launched regretsy.com in October 2009 and within a week was drawing 2 million visitors a day, quickly establishing itself as an influential and groundbreaking internet phenomenon. Regretsy: Where DIY Meets WTF was published in April, 2010, to rave reviews and has been named to Must Read lists of The Onion, New York Times, and Salon, and has been recently featured on ABC's Nightline.

With wit, outrageousness, and seemingly no sense of shame, April Winchell has endeared herself to legions of fans and artists alike by calling attention to chicken ponchos, wearable hummingbird feeders, and more “artistic” reproductive organs than you can shake a poorly crafted stick at. Filled with photos, acerbic commentary, and hilarious, yet poignant essays, Regretsy has even spawned its own lexicon to describe the otherwise indescribable.

A former member of world-renowned comedy troupe, The Groundlings, April Winchell has enjoyed a multi-faceted career in entertainment as a talk radio host; voice actress in hundreds of animated movies and television programs; writer for the classic sitcom, Roseanne; and in the business world as a copywriter and producer, winning every major advertising award in the world. Winchell was named by Los Angeles Magazine as the 21st Funniest Person in L.A., making her funnier than Eddie Izzard, but not quite as hilarious as Johnny Knoxville. Her father, the late Paul Winchell, was beloved by millions as the original voice of Tigger.
