Appmarket.TV, The First Online Portal, Community, Events And Industry Directory For The Emerging Industry Around TV Applications And Widgets Unveiled

(I-Newswire) May 9, 2010 - Amsterdam, Netherlands, May 10th, 2010— Agora Media Group, a creative and innovation agency has unveiled Appmarket.tv, the first online portal, community, events and industry directory for the emerging industry around TV applications and widgets - which is expected to be over a billion Euro market by 2013.[1] A recent US poll shows that seventy per cent of sports fans and 55% of drama viewers said they want to interact with TV. The site, still in BETA, has been in development for six weeks and is built on Open Source software.


“It started with noticing a simple request from a fellow member on a Linkedin Social TV group,” said co-founder Gianluigi Cuccureddu. “Someone expressed a desire for a place online where they could explore this new cutting edge technology, share ideas, and learn about the emerging TV widget and app market... it was a case of problem needs solution.”


Kastelein added : “There are no walled gardens on the site... everything is free – it’s part of our philosophy built by our experience with existing open source software communities. We think it’s more interesting to be curators of the market intelligence, more interesting to learn and share in a community environment, and open up our hard work and research to anyone who wants to read and learn... and perhaps give back by sharing what they know with us.”


Currently the site is broken up into a number of sections with video, events calendar, directory, documents, polls, and a networking community area and the industry itself is covered by a number of writers and guest columnists.
