Appdata Releases Results Of Social Networking Games Study In The Russian Market

AppData.ru has today released the results of its recent research project into the Russian market for social networking games. The data confirms that the social gaming market is growing, and experts predict steady growth for the foreseeable future.

Moscow (I-Newswire) June 18, 2012 - AppData.ru has today released the results of its recent research project into the Russian market for social networking games. The data confirms that the social gaming market is growing, and experts predict steady growth for the foreseeable future.

The positive trend is underscored by several factors, not least of which is that the market is growing along with the audience; gamers are increasingly willing to pay some type of participation fee and to play more complex and time–consuming games.

The study also predicts that Odnoklassniki will reach $135M in social gaming revenue, Vkontakte will get up to $105M, and Moi Mir (My World) $35M, bringing the total social gaming revenue for the Big Three Russian social networks to $275M.



The study evaluated the social gaming market based on daily average usage. The average daily revenue per user is $0.03 and the engagement ratio is 1.6 (number of games played simultaneously by one person on one day).

The study also draws conclusions from the statistical analysis of various metrics: the number of installed applications, changes in the number of uploads, monthly active users (MAU), daily active users (DAU), and user distribution across games and platforms.

The Odnoklassniki directory contains 767 games and applications with a total number of 20M. DAU. Of this number, 8.8M are contributed by the top] 20 applications (2.65% of the applications generate 44% of the DAU).

My World directory has 1695 applications. Its games and applications DAU number stands at about 5M, and 2.4 M is generated by the top 20 applications (1.1% of the applications contribute 48% of the DAU).

The Vkontakte social network hosts 2165 games and applications with a total number of 15M DAU. Of this number, 7.2M users are contributed by the top20 applications (0.9% of the applications generate 48% of the DAU).


The study also shows that the DAU of the top10 Odnoklassniki applications is several times higher than that of the top 10 applications at the other two major social network sites.



The research confirms steady and continued market growth. Social gaming revenue will continue to increase for both social networks and the games and application developers, thanks to user fees and advertising.
