Annual Sports Meet Concludes Amid At UMA Ranchi
In the month of August, the Usha Martin Academy, Ranchi campus organised a 3-day long sports meet. The event was attended by 400 students and faculty on the premises, all of whom were in high spirits and good cheer right from the morning.

In the month of August, the Usha Martin Academy , Ranchi campus organised a 3-day long sports meet. The event was attended by 400 students and faculty on the premises, all of whom were in high spirits and good cheer right from the morning. “Everyone was so excited! There was friendly banter and challenges flying around”, said Ashwin Dasgupta, a second semester student. Students could be seen gathering their friends and classmates on the ground, so that their group could cheer on their teams. The excitement percolated down to the faculty too who applauded the entire event whole heartedly.
The grounds were soon swarming with teams from all departments, and cheers and claps could be heard throughout the day. In spite of the fierce competition, there was a healthy sportsman spirit that enveloped the entire campus. Competitions were held for Badminton, Cricket, Carom, Kho-kho, Long Jump, 100m Sprint and Volley ball. The winners for badminton in boys and girls categories respectively were Amardeep Singh, Sakeb Akhtar, Sonal and Reshma. BBA sixth semester and BCA fourth semester (A) won the cricket tournament, while the winners in Carom were Imran, Shyam and Praveen in the boys, and Sonal, Reshma and Pragya in the girls categories. The girls team from IT and Management won the Kho-kho, while Pradeep Kr. Mahapatra, Sumit Kr., Anup, Sonal, Shalini Singh and Meena Kumari won the long jump event. The 100m sprint was won by Anup Kr., Pradeep Kr. Mahapatra, Vineet Rathore in the boys category and Preeti, Reshma and Sonali in the girls category respectively. BBA fourth semester (B), BCA second semester (A) and BCA sixth semester walked away with the laurels in Volleyball. A majority of the prizes went to the IT department, followed closely by athletes from the department of Management.
The event was brought to a close with the prize distribution ceremony. The Dean of the campus addressed the gathering and motivated the students with his words of appreciation. He also encouraged the students to participate in larger numbers next year. A special vote of thanks was given to Birendra Goswami and his team for their excellent coordination in organising the 3-day event. The event came to a happy and cheerful end and marked the beginning of a greater rapport in class between students and faculty.
