I was sitting outside the bagel store trying to figure it out.

Oh well, I’ll just get both.

And there she was, crushed in the door to the bagel store.

Holding bagels and coffee and crushed. The man who crushed her walked on without any notice.

OH NO. I freed the lady. She glanced at me gratefully and continued on her way as if nothing happened.

But wait, who was that guy?

Who does that?

The man kept walking. Oblivious.

I turned to see what would become of the man when the woman caught up with him.

She was gaining on him little by little, but he did not notice. She could have been hit by a car right behind him and he would not notice.

I was horrified when I realized it was her own husband who had crushed her. And she, nor he, even noticed.

I had a flash back to her life. In my version, she was kind and gracious, never thinking of herself. She was a hard worker, taking care of the kids, taking care of the house, taking care of everybody, only to be left . . .

. . . crushed in the door.

I know you expect me to say the moral of the story is to follow your dreams, live your passion and explore the possibilities of life, but not today.

TODAY is the day to do something special for the one person who helped you succeed, who believed in you, who stood by you, who totally by accident and without intention, you might have left crushed in the door.
