Andy Kaufman Inducted into WWE Hall of Fame 2014

Andy's Army Movement Hints At Return Of 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Inductee Andy Kaufman

Talks continue circulating WWE communities about inducting the famous women's wrestling celebrity, Andy Kaufman, into the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame. Even though he's been out of the spotlight since May 16, 1984, his friends and family, bloggers, podcasts and websites still intend on seeing him win the award for this historical event. They call their movement "Andy's Army."

Less than a week after Andy's Army members, Bill Apter and Bob Pagani, discussed contacting @WWE on twitter with #AK4WWEHOF2014, the video gained over 8,000 views.

Jerry Lawler, the only man Kaufman ever wrestled, says: "I've pushed for him to be there …The match I had with him, and that whole scenario I think opened the door and changed the face of wrestling to what it is today...When Andy came along and he and I had those matches, all of a sudden we were on national television on David Letterman, Saturday Night Live and these sorts of things...Every time you look around, Hollywood stars want to be on Monday Night Raw or involved in WWE. I think it all started with Andy Kaufman. I think he really deserves to be in there."

With daily followers on Twitter and Facebook, more and more news outlets are taking notice of #AK4WWEHOF2014. Double Special Podcast recently interviewed Pagani and Ruby Tuesday, the only woman to ever pin Kaufman (twice!), who had this to say: "He definitely belongs there...he drew a lot of attention to the world of wrestling and the idea that men and women could wrestle each other."

As momentum picked up, more of Andy's friends joined the dream to get him inducted into the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame. Bob Zmuda, Kaufman's writing partner explained: "I've been talking with Jerry Lawler who's been wanting to get Andy Kaufman into that Hall of Fame and for them to do a big thing with the hopes of bringing Tony Clifton in to either wrestle Jerry or at least be a commentator."

Uncle Andy couldn't be reached for comment, but many are speculating he will show up April 5, 2014 at the Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, Louisiana to accept his award.
