AMI recently introduced its new Aptio® V UEFI BIOS Firmware at the “Touch the Future with Aptio V” Launch Event. During the event, AMI also displayed a showcase of next-generation Windows® 8-ready hardware from leading manufacturer partners.
Norcross, Georgia (I-Newswire) October 26, 2012 - Earlier this month, American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS, remote management and network storage innovations, unveiled its new Aptio® V UEFI BIOS Firmware to an enthusiastic audience of developers, manufacturers and system integrators at the “Touch the Future with Aptio V” Launch Event in Taipei, Taiwan.
During the event, AMI also displayed a showcase of next-generation Windows® 8-ready hardware from many of its leading manufacturer partners. Notably, each of the systems presented also use Aptio® as its UEFI firmware of choice. Many of the systems showcased also displayed complementary AMI software solutions that can add value and increase productivity, such as the new, touch-based version of BIOS Setup that allows users of touch based devices to perform standard BIOS configuration, as well as AMI Provisioning™ and the MegaRAC® XMS Management Console. A slideshow presentation of several of the Windows 8-ready systems on display at the Aptio V launch event is available for viewing on AMI’s corporate website at http://www.ami.com/News/Events/Special/AptioVLaunch_HardwareShowcase/.
As the “next generation of UEFI BIOS”, Aptio V features support for the latest UEFI specifications, making the features required for a great Windows 8 experience such as Secure Boot for enhanced platform security and EDK II support available to manufacturers. American Megatrends President and CEO Subramonian Shankar commented, “Just as Windows 8 marks the next stage in the life of the world’s most popular operating system, so does Aptio V mark the next stage in AMI’s journey of providing the most robust firmware solutions on the market. Providing development tools that are easy to use and promote efficiency has always been a core goal of the world’s leading BIOS company, American Megatrends.”
He continued that “AMI partners understand that with Aptio V, they can expect the continuity, stability and innovation for which AMI is widely known – in short, everything that enables them to provide excellent Windows 8-ready platforms that take full advantage of the great opportunities that the launch of Windows 8 represents. AMI’s Aptio V is fully ready to support Windows 8, with the weight of the UEFI 2.3.1 standards behind it and support for features like Secure Boot and touch capability, to continue our leadership position as the world’s premier independent BIOS vendor.”
