This month marks the debut of the first fully digital online version of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery (AJCS). The December online issue of the redesigned journal with more interactive content will be complimentary to a global audience.

Chicago, IL (I-Newswire) December 10, 2011 - This month marks the premiere of the first fully digital online version of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery (AJCS). Along with a new contemporary design, going digital means enriched content and greater accessibility, introducing the publication to a whole new audience across the globe. The December online issue of the AJCS also will be complimentary, allowing readers to sample the high quality content and robust features by visiting AJCSOnline.org.

As the official publication of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), the American Society of Liposuction Surgery and the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, this quarterly publication features state-of-the-art cosmetic surgery procedures, topics and breakthroughs written by distinguished experts in their respective fields. The Journal contains original manuscripts relating to all disciplines of cosmetic surgery – each peer-reviewed to reflect the highest quality and leading edge of knowledge. The new look and the functionality now reflect the quality of content of this well-respected periodical.

“The Journal continues to serve as a vital tool in furthering the mission of the AACS to advance the specialty of cosmetic surgery and quality patient care,” said Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. “Launching the new online version with its many interactive digital features will now make the premier journal in cosmetic surgery accessible globally, allowing the world community of cosmetic surgeons to collaborate and present new information and cutting-edge education as never before.”

“Since its inception in 1984, the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery has served as a hallmark of excellence in the field of cosmetic surgery,” states Dr. Jane Petro, Editor of AJCS. “And it remains the only publication 100% cosmetic surgery-focused, covering all specialties within the discipline. Going digital with more robust and dynamic content makes this esteemed journal more invaluable to the cosmetic medicine community than ever.”

The new fully digital version of the Journal provides greater accessibility to a broader, more international audience with some distinct benefits for doctors, researchers and writers working in cosmetic surgery. The new AJCS will be fully searchable, making access to any given topic quick and convenient. For researchers or those publishing in other media outlets, this increased functionality allows for the authors and their articles to be more readily cited, helping further establish the AJCS as the journal to reference for cosmetic surgery.

What’s more, the digital environment presents an incredible opportunity to make the Journal much more interactive, with video and links to other relevant material, as well as the ability to include a greater number of images for reference. Plus, digitally publishing the AJCS can be done ahead of the print version, making the rich content of the Journal available as soon as possible to readers and researchers in the field.

Cosmetic surgeons worldwide are encouraged to submit scientific abstracts to the AJCS for publication by visiting the Journal website (AJCSOnline.org) and using the simple system to submit their manuscript or volunteer to review articles.

To view the complimentary first digital online issue of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, visit AJCSOnline.org.

Future issues of both the print and online Journal (beginning in March 2012) will be available by subscription. Members of the AACS, the American Society of Liposuction Surgery and the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery receive both print and online as a benefit of their membership.
