AMB New Generation Data Empowerment, Releases to the Public, its Open Source Community Edition of its Predictive Data Management Governance Suite
Chicago, IL, April 2, 2010 - AMB, a premier provider of information governance tools and solutions, has successfully launched their first community edition as an open source offering. Starting March 30th, as originally scheduled, the community edition is available for download from sourceforge.net and AMB's website ambpdm.com.
AMB plans to extend their open source solutions to encompass other areas of their suite, and may include capabilities at a future date from offerings currently provided for:
• the enrichment of indices managing unstructured content,
• the resolution of hierarchical discrepancies between
portals and data warehouses,
• real time data governance,
• MDM discovery and
• the flagship MDM on a Shoestring offering.
Steven Meister, founder and CTO of AMB commented "As a long-time advocate and innovator for data governance solutions, even I am surprised by the open source community's immediate response to Tuesday's release of our community edition. Getting this technology into the hands of thousands of new users will definitely send a message to the marketplace that business is tired of conventional, cobbled implementations that require huge upfront investments. Companies seem to be quite weary of having to pay to play before they can justify their long term plans for information governance."
AMB has scheduled future open source releases of its MDM, Match/Merge and BI Viewing technologies and a free developer's kit for community users wishing to contribute innovative product enhancements.
AMB believes that the pandemic of untrustworthy information is compromising investments that companies are willing to make in technology. AMB also believes strongly enough that companies do not know where to start and are unsure of the quality of their information. As expected, the community edition has been very well received as a viable vehicle for enterprises.
The AMB Open Source Community Edition provides an effective way for companies:
• To become familiar with data profiling as a means of
identifying and eliminating data anomalies
• To start their data stewardship program, determine what
issues are important to them, and to invest in a
repeatable process that delivers high quality data
• Expose organizations to the best suite on the market, bar
Steven Meister also noted that "AMB is very proud to be the first data governance vendor to offer a significant, usable community edition as an open source solution to companies dealing with data governance issues. We believe that many Master Data management (MDM), Customer Data Integration (CDI), customer 360 and Enterprise Resource Management (ERM / ERP) solutions in the marketplace today do not do enough to ensure the integrity of information integrated through these solutions. Furthermore, due to the complexity of the underlying information contained in these solutions, the difficulty of solving information trustworthiness and consistency issues is greatly increased after information is migrated to these integrated solutions. Through our conversations with companies and vendors, we have been made all too aware that information trustworthiness has been brought to the top of the list of initiatives to tackle in many enterprises, and we hope that this community edition improves the roadmap for many of these organizations."
