Today, Altitude Meetings announced their upcoming workshops for Mental Health Professionals on Treatment Strategies for Military Women with PTSD and MST. When in danger it is natural to feel afraid. Fear triggers split-second changes in the body to defend or avoid against that danger-fight-or flight. However, those that suffer with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or Military Sexual Trauma (MST) have had their fight-or-flight reaction changed or damaged which makes those with PTSD/MST feel stressed or frightened even when they are no longer in danger.

PTSD/MST develops after a terrifying event(s) that involved sexual and/or physical harm or the threat of sexual and/or physical harm not necessarily directly harm to them as it could be to a loved one or witnessing the event(s) that occurred.

PTSD/MST was first brought to public attention in relation to war veterans, but it can result from a variety of traumatic incidents, such as mugging, rape, torture, being kidnapped or held captive, child abuse, car accidents, train wrecks, plane crashes, bombings, or natural disasters such as floods or earthquakes.

In comes Cyndy Van Sant of Altitude Meetings, Dr. Darlene Williams, PhD, PA and Dr. Gloria Payne, PhD, LMFT, NBCDCH) joining together to host these workshops of which they have over 30 years of experience treating individuals with a wide-range of mental health issues.

The first two workshops will be held in the Tampa Bay area in Florida on October 19-20 and November 17-18.

After completion of the workshop(s), the attendees will be able to

- Define trauma conceptually and outline its psycho-physiological sequel

- Teach self-hypnosis techniques to reinforce new ways of thinking

- Discuss how to transform re-traumatizing flashbacks and nightmares into non-threatening experience via Rapid Trauma Resolution, and

- Will be introduced to equine co-facilitated therapy while participating in the powerful transformative technology for trauma recovery, amongst many other objectives.

For those interested, there will be a Full Moon Ceremony on the Friday evening, October 18 and a campfire meditation on Friday evening, November 16 at Temple Mound before each workshop.
