All-Star Games Calls on Young Entrepreneurs to Keep Cool

Small Business Brings Innovative Self-Cooling Towels to the Big Leagues

Las Vegas (I-Newswire) June 22, 2011 - Arizona is busy preparing to host the Major League Baseball All-Star Game next month at Chase Field for the first time. MLB took a bit of a gamble on Arizona. Between the heat and the protesters, the All-Star Game faces an uphill battle.

But it seems right that the MLB took a gamble with its Midsummer Classic this year.

Two local young entrepreneurs started a company that sells unique marketing tools in the form of customizable self-cooling towels in resealable packaging. All it takes is a spin through the air and the towel chills itself whenever needed.

With temperatures anticipated to be over 100 degrees, an influx of tourists unfamiliar with the scorching sun, and ‘rally towels’ already a part of baseball’s culture, these young men saw a golden opportunity in the All-Star Game.

The company is called CoolRagz, and they focus primarily on keeping big events cool. Their other clients range from golf courses to music festivals, but they’ve recently been in business with MLB and booked the All-Star Game in Phoenix.

Now, with the game less than one month away, the rookie towel company is preparing to deliver an order at their biggest event yet.

“It’s a daunting task. We’re essentially premiering our product at one of the top sporting events of the year.” Said CEO Sean Campbell. “But it’s exactly where we belong. We are confident, and we’re about to prove ourselves.”

Campbell and best-friend-since-middle-school Robert Sanchez, both 27 years old, are two top members of the CoolRagz team. The duo went to the same middle school and graduated from Green Valley High School in Henderson in 2002. Throughout college and other professional endeavors following graduation, the pair kept in touch.

Just last year, Sanchez lived just outside of Phoenix where he taught middle school students at a charter school. It was a stable job, and in many ways it was his calling, but he gave it all up after one phone call from Campbell.

“It was hard, but I knew this was our moment,” Sanchez said. “I had to be here [in Las Vegas] and make this work.”

The CoolRagz sales team has worked closely with MLB and vendors scheduled to serve the All-Star Game and its related events in and around Chase Field downtown. The custom towel package is Sedona red, with this year’s signature Arizona saguaro silhouette All-Star Game logo.
