Hanoi (I-Newswire) August 6, 2013 - The town of Sapa in the region of the same name, was relatively unheard of a few years ago. A few backpackers would brave the journey out from Hanoi, but few others. As new hotels and better facilities have arrived, so have trekkers and holiday makers in much healthier numbers.
Sapa is one of the poorest regions of the whole country. This interest from tour groups and holiday makers is making a significant difference to the local economy. Sapa trekking tours and seeing interest from young and old alike. Singles and families are all enjoying this kind of tour.
The Sapa trekking tour from All Sapa Tours begins as you travelers are transported to Hanoi railway station from their hotel. The overnight train journey brings customers to Lao Cai railway station on the Chinese border. From here it is a ninety minute car journey to the town of Sapa. Arriving early in the morning means that arrangements have been made for travelers to shower and freshen up at a local hotel before visiting a local village, which is home to the Black H'Mong ethnic minority people. After enjoying a picnic lunch the tour moves on to another village where the Dzay people live. There are 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam and the ones in Sapa are amongst the poorest.
The choice of accommodation on this tour is between hotel in Sapa or a home stay in one or more of the villages. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming and home stays provide a unique opportunity to see rural life from close up.The ethnic people cook meals and provide shelter and a chance to mix with them. These are delightful people, struggling to maintain their lifestyles in an ever changing world.
The scenery around Sapa, lends itself beautifully to this kind of holiday. The terraced hillsides and lush scenery provide an excellent backdrop for trekkers. Other villages featurte and further ethnic minorities are met. The waterfall close to the village of Sin Chi is a delightful place to relax and maybe swim. This comes on the end of a 9 mile trek and is a perfect way to wash off the dust and ease any aching limbs.
The town, has a few hotel, restaurants and bars and more are currently being built. The evening atmosphere is laid back and whilst this is no party town, there is ample opportunity to get a few drinks and relax. After one final night in Sapa, it is time to head back to Lao Cai and the train journey back to Hanoi. Arriving at 5 am, a car is waiting to take trippers back to their Hanoi hotel.
